Republic Day Essay - Every year on January 26, India commemorates Republic Day with great pride and zeal. It is a significant day for every Indian citizen. It commemorates the day when India achieved true independence and embraced democracy. In other words, it commemorates the day our constitution went into force. We became an independent, secular, socialist, democratic republic on January 26, 1950, nearly three years after our independence.

History of republic day

While we gained independence from British domination on August 15, 1947, our country lacked a written constitution. Furthermore, India lacked professionals and political authority that would aid in the seamless operation of state affairs. Until then, the 1935 Government of India Act had been essentially amended in order to govern, although it was more geared toward colonial authority. As a result, there was an urgent need to draught an exclusive constitution that reflected everything that India stands for.

On August 28, 1947, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar chaired a constitutional drafting group. The same group drafted it and submitted it to the Constituent Assembly on November 4, 1947. This entire technique was extremely complex and may take up to 166 days to finish. Furthermore, the committee's meetings were open to the public.

Despite the difficulties and obstacles, our constitutional committee left no stone unturned in ensuring equal rights for all. It attempted to strike the perfect balance so that all people of the country might have equal rights in terms of religion, culture, caste, gender, creed, and other factors. On January 26, 1950, they finally presented the country with the actual Indian constitution.

In addition, the inaugural session of the India Parliament was held on this day. In addition, the 26th of January saw the inauguration of India's first president, Dr. Rajendra Prasad. Thus, this day is significant since it commemorates the end of British control and the creation of India as a Republic State.
